| The Münzfernsprecher 55 Tisch was a black handset that sat on the table (in hotels, etc) and had a small integrated coin tin. Technically, it remained electromechanical, integrated into the standard telephone network but often configured for controlled billing within private premises. In many cases, the system allowed the operator or proprietor (e.g. hotel staff) to monitor or manage usage. The Münzfernsprecher 55 Tisch generally did not require a completely different physical line, but it did require a specially configured service on the line.
