| The Fernsprechhäuschen 26 is a rare early German telephone kiosk dating from 1926, produced during the expansion of public telephony under the Deutsche Reichspost. It represents a pre-standardised generation of booths, built before the uniform designs introduced in the early 1930s. Kiosks of this era were typically pavilion-like structures with glazed sides, designed for visibility and public supervision. The surviving example documented online is notable for its near-original restoration and continued use in Berlin, making it an exceptionally rare working relic. It currently houses a later ÖKartTel NIKE-EG card telephone, although a coin-operated unit would be more historically appropriate. |
