The STEEL AND GLASS TELEPHONE BOOTH

Introduced during the early 1950s, the steel and glass telephone booth complemented the earlier concrete kiosks.
They used a graceful minimalistic steel framed glass construction (steel framed glazed is commonly used in South Africa) reminiscent of early German models.
The 1950 version was painted red, and a new, colourless, aluminium-framed call-office cabinet (of similar form) was designed in 1961 for use in coastal areas.
