Development of the Street Aluminium CM+ Phone Booth
| The iconic aluminium Telstra payphone booth was introduced in 1982, jointly commissioned by Telstra and the City of Sydney. It was designed by Darrel Conybeare and William Morrison of the architectural firm CM+ and manufactured by Street Furniture Australia. This design became the standard across Australia for head box public payphones . The booths were manufactured by Street Furniture Australia, a company established in 1986 by Conybeare and Morrison to produce urban furniture. This venture allowed them to oversee the entire process from design to production, ensuring quality and consistency. Below- patent application notes. With special thanks to Ciccio Genley |
