Taiwan Payphones
Taiwan’s public telephone network expanded rapidly from the 1960s, supporting the island’s industrial growth and urbanisation. Early coin-operated models gradually gave way to locally manufactured electronic and card-operated payphones by companies such as Tatung and Tecom. Although mobile phones caused a sharp decline from the 2000s, some payphones remain in service today.
