BT-CT34 Sovereign Keypad Payphone

Introduced in the late 1990s, the Sovereign Card Payphone SC1 was a wall-mounted, card-only unit by British Telecom, manufactured by Landis & Gyr. Accepting optical Phonecards, it featured a small monitor and keyboard, briefly supporting limited email and internet access during a short-lived global experiment with web-connected payphones.

Sovereign Card Payphone

The Sovereign Card Payphone (SC1) was introduced by British Telecom in the late 1990s as a wall-mounted, card-only public payphone designed to accept BT optical Phonecards. Manufactured by Landis & Gyr, the SC1 had a small monitor and keyboard, allowing calls and limited email internet connectivity. Most providers around the world had a very brief foray into web connected payphones.
