IPP-SECURIFON 50

The Securifon POA payphone emerged during UK telecom liberalisation in the late 1980s–1990s. Developed by Securifon after the privatisation of British Telecom, it formed part of the competitive alternative payphone market alongside operators such as Mercury Communications, often using rental and revenue-share models.

Development of the SECURIFON 50

Securifon POA payphone was a type of British payphone developed by Securifon, a company active in supplying public telephones during the liberalisation of the UK telecoms market in the 1980s and 1990s.
After British Telecom was privatised (1984), the UK government encouraged competition in the telecoms sector.
Mercury Communications (Cable & Wireless) and others were allowed to install payphones.
Securifon phones like the POA were part of this new wave of alternative payphone options, sometimes offering cheaper or competitive rates.
Securifon also offered rental and revenue-sharing models to business owners to incentivise installation.
