Development of the WE 182C Payphone
| Western Electric 182C Payphone The Western Electric 182C is an original cast-steel, three-slot (nickel/dime/quarter) prepay payphone retaining its original components. The internal wiring diagram remains affixed inside the housing. The unit is fitted with the correct 10G upper housing lock and No. 14 vault door lock, consistent with factory specification. The exterior paint finish is in very good condition and appears to be original, although this cannot be confirmed with absolute certainty. The 182C incorporates the distinctive swing-out coin chute assembly unique to the 180- and 160-series payphones. This specific coin chute design is collectible in its own right and has been observed to command significant standalone market value. |
