Above- wonderful iconic Greek yellow phone booths.
These Greek public phone booths are striking in OTE’s yellow and blue. Several have rounded roofs, glazed side panels and blue “ΚΑΡΤΟΤΗΛΕΦΩΝΟ / CARDPHONE” signs above the opening. Their open fronts made the phones easy to find and use while offering some shelter from sun and rain. The photographs also show other yellow designs: simpler hooded stations and a row of booths with flatter, projecting roofs. Different generations of blue cardphones appear inside them. Even where graffiti, missing equipment and weathering have taken their toll, the booths remain vivid pieces of Greece’s streetscape and a reminder of public calling before mobile phones.
